When reliable electrical connections are required in the smallest possible space, binder’s M9 portfolio offers compact circular connector solutions that perform reliably even under demanding conditions.
The 702, 711 and 712 series cover different protection classes, connection types and technical requirements – from IP40 to IP67, shielded or unshielded, field-attachable or overmolded. This provides users in industrial automation, medical technology, and test and measurement applications with robust and flexible connector types for their compact designs.
Thanks to their very compact design, the M9 connectors are ideal for applications with limited installation space. At the same time, they offer high protection levels up to IP67 and a rugged screw-locking mechanism. This ensures a mechanically stable and reliable connection – even under challenging environmental conditions such as vibration, moisture or dust. As a result, the connectors make a significant contribution to operational safety across various application fields.
Three series – one goal: maximum flexibility
binder offers three proven series in the M9 segment:
- Series 711 includes field-attachable and panel-mount connectors with IP40 protection for devices used in standard environments.
- Series 702 and Series 712, on the other hand, provide IP67 protection and shielding, making them especially suitable for harsh industrial environments.
Series 702 comprises overmolded versions with customizable cable lengths, while series 712 includes field-attachable and panel-mount connectors. All variants are available with 3 to 8 pins. Depending on the type, housings are made of metal or plastic. A rugged screw-locking system ensures secure connections in all series – even under vibration or in mobile applications.
The M9 portfolio offers a wide range of versions. Depending on the application scenario, different configurations are available. The option to choose between metal or plastic housings allows the connection technology to be precisely adapted to environmental conditions, weight requirements or EMC specifications.
Space-saving solutions for diverse applications
Typical applications for the M9 connectors include any environment where space constraints are critical but reliability and safety cannot be compromised. In medical technology, they are used in portable analysis and diagnostic equipment. In industrial automation, they serve for signal and data transmission in compact control units or sensors.
Additional fields include measurement and testing equipment, as well as the transport and logistics sector – for example, in automated guided vehicles (AGVs), where they ensure safe and stable connections.
One particularly noteworthy application is in mobile devices where, despite very limited installation space, a high protection rating up to IP67 and reliable signal transmission are essential.
Precision in manufacturing – quality in every detail
Manufacturing these miniature connector components requires extreme precision. binder relies on automated processes with tightly controlled tolerances and meticulous quality assurance. Both electrical and mechanical properties are thoroughly tested. The sealing concept for IP67, which has proven itself for decades, remains a key quality feature of the series and ensures safe operation even in demanding environments.
“Our M9 connectors have proven to be extremely reliable across a wide variety of applications over the years. Thanks to their robust design and versatile application options, they will continue to be the right solution for many compact technical systems in the future,” says Sebastian Ader, Product Manager at binder.
