With the Harsh Environment Connector (HEC), binder presents a connector solution specifically designed for use in demanding outdoor environments. Thanks to robust materials, high sealing performance and a durable construction, the HEC ensures reliable connections even under extreme conditions – for example in agriculture, machinery, or renewable energy installations.
The HEC impresses with its high IP68/IP69K protection rating, providing dependable resistance against dust, dirt, high-pressure cleaning and steam-jet cleaning. UV- and corrosion-resistant materials ensure long service life – even under intense sunlight or high humidity. As a result, the HEC guarantees stable signal and power transmission, even in severe weather conditions.
“With the HEC from the 696 series, we offer our customers a robust, durable and user-friendly connector solution developed specifically for harsh outdoor environments,” says Sebastian Ader, Product Manager at binder.
Fast, safe and tool-friendly – easy handling in the field
The HEC is designed with user convenience in mind. The binder HEC portfolio includes a 5-pole version with screw clamps. Thanks to this wiring method, the connector can be assembled quickly using standard tools, making it ideal for field installation. The bayonet locking mechanism, which opens and closes with a simple push-and-twist motion, ensures safe and efficient handling. Assembly and maintenance are therefore quick and time-saving.
In hybrid versions, power and signal transmission can be handled in a single operation.
Reliable in any environment – an all-rounder for demanding applications
With its rugged design and high vibration resistance, the Harsh Environment Connector is the ideal solution for numerous challenging applications. In agricultural and construction machinery, it ensures reliable power and signal connections in tractors, harvesting machines or pumping systems – even under heavy mechanical loads and changing weather conditions.
To withstand typical mechanical, chemical and climatic stresses, the components of the 696 series – cable connectors and square flanges – are also available with protective hose options. This ensures IP68 protection for the power interface and, when mated, IP69K. Due to the integrated sealing system, all cables and conductors in the protective hose achieve protection up to IP67.
In outdoor lighting and tunnel infrastructure, the HEC also excels with its resistance to moisture, oils, chemicals, vibration and temperature fluctuations – ensuring long-lasting and safe electrical connections.
Power in harmony with nature – reliable in solar and wind installations
Renewable energy systems place particularly high demands on both technology and materials. Solar and wind farms expose components to extreme weather conditions – from intense UV radiation to moisture and temperature changes. The HEC is engineered precisely for these challenges: its high sealing performance and resistance to UV, corrosion and vibration make it ideal for use in these sectors.
With its versatile power-handling capabilities, the connector is suitable for both low- and high-voltage ranges, offering maximum flexibility for diverse applications.
Conclusion – Connections that withstand even the most extreme conditions
With the Harsh Environment Connector, binder offers a powerful solution for applications where conventional connectors reach their limits. The HEC combines robust materials, easy handling and high reliability – the ideal choice for anyone requiring durable connection technology in harsh outdoor environments.
