A&C Solutions powers vanRaam's e-trike with smart Higo connectors

A&C Solutions has partnered with VanRaam to support the launch of a watertight adaptive tricycle at Eurobike 2025. Behind this innovative debut lies a story of close collaboration—demonstrating the true value of strong strategic partnerships.

As a specialist distributor of high-quality connectors, including Higo, A&C Solutions is known for delivering comprehensive and customizable solutions within the e-mobility market. In this project, the company played a key role in supporting leading Dutch manufacturer Van Raam in selecting the right connector solution for its new Thuja e-trike.

Smart connections through trusted partnerships

The collaboration began in April 2022, when Van Raam was searching for a high-quality, waterproof connector at a competitive price, while ensuring compliance with standards such as CE and UL.

“At the time, we were developing a new display and needed a solution that was both reliable and cost-effective,” says Rick de Jonge, Electrical Engineer at Van Raam. “A&C Solutions stood out immediately with their expertise, advice, and sample products.”

During development, Van Raam had a clear idea of its cable and connector requirements but relied on A&C Solutions for technical validation and optimization. For instance, when selecting a connector for the speed sensor, A&C proposed a more suitable alternative to the initial concept.

The right specifications for peace of mind

“We don’t just supply connectors—we provide peace of mind,” explains Jannes Christiaensen, Key Account Manager at A&C Solutions. “We analyze each application and recommend solutions that are technically sound, compliant, and cost-efficient.”

Thanks to its close collaboration with Higo, A&C Solutions can offer connector solutions tailored to specific application needs. While no custom connector was developed for this project, the selected components were carefully chosen to ensure optimal fit, reliability, and compliance.

Introducing the Thuja

The new Thuja e-trike is Van Raam’s answer to the growing “Silver Generation”—active seniors who value mobility, independence, and design. With this demographic expected to grow significantly in the coming years, Van Raam aims to meet their needs with innovative solutions.

The Thuja integrates Higo’s Micro Q connector series, known for its compact size, watertight design, and user-friendly push-pull locking mechanism.

“The cables are compact, the connector is small, and it integrates seamlessly into the design,” De Jonge adds. “We’ve used this solution before, and the feedback has always been very positive.”

Key features of the Thuja include:

  • Two front wheels and one rear wheel
  • Enhanced stability for riders with reduced balance
  • Integrated storage with a discreet design
  • A balanced combination of functionality, dignity, and style

Moving forward

According to Van Raam, reliability and responsiveness set A&C Solutions and Higo apart.

“They always deliver on time, allowing us to move quickly,” says De Jonge. “Their flexibility and willingness to go the extra mile make them a valuable partner.”

A&C Solutions’ warehouse in Belgium ensures short delivery times and reliable stock availability. Whether for small batches or large-scale production, the company is built to scale and provides strong local support across Europe.

Accessible mobility for confident users

While the official market launch of the Thuja is still upcoming, it represents the next step in Van Raam’s mission to make mobility accessible, comfortable, and stylish.

Producing around 15,000 to 16,000 bicycles annually in Europe, Van Raam continues to focus on quality and sustainability while delivering tailored solutions for individual mobility needs.

“A&C Solutions offered more than just high-quality connectors,” concludes De Jonge. “They provided a reliable partnership that truly understands our mission: helping more people move with confidence.”
